San Antonio, TX (July 29, 2016) – Wilshire Homes’ comprehensive green building program was honored with a Best Green Home award during the Greater San Antonio Builders Association’s annual Summit Awards.
For more than 30 years, the Summit Awards have recognized the builders, developers and associates who have made significant and creative contributions in residential marketing.
The builder received the award for its “Eco Smart” model home in Schertz’s Rhine Valley development.
“We are proud to be honored for our commitment to building eco-friendly homes,” said Jim Eller, San Antonio division president for McGuyer Homebuilders, Inc., (MHI), parent company of Wilshire Homes. “All of our homes — regardless of price — meet the highest standards of the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Homes program, ensuring that they use less energy and water and fewer natural resources.”
The 2,449-square-foot model has its own AC/heating blueprint based on the number and size of windows, size of home and other energy efficiency components such as insulation, ventilation and equipment efficiency ratings. All of which translates to an average heating-and-cooling cost estimate of $99 per month.
Wilshire Homes’ designs in Rhine Valley resonated with buyers, and the development is approaching close out, with only a few inventory homes still available. The builder has already begun pre-sales in its next community, Foxbrook in Cibolo, with homes priced from the $280,000s.
In addition to Foxbrook, the builder is active in five other San Antonio-area communities.
